About Patti Jenkins
Growing up in Southeastern Michigan I remember watching my grandfather paint watercolor landscapes. As a young child, it was a real treat to watch him make the paper come alive with the colors of the seasons. I also watched my father painting landscapes, and my aunt sketching animals and people. As a teen, I followed their lead, and drew a lot using colored pencils and markers. Later, as an adult, the responsibilities of parenthood and maintaining a household over the years took priority over my love of the arts. I began painting again about 20 years ago, off and on, but still not as much as I would have liked, my work always took priority. And there were so many things I still needed to learn. Having now reached the age of retirement, I find myself able to get back to the easel, relishing the inspiration and joy of art. With the full support of my husband, I have taken up the brush and begun to paint again. I currently live in Texas, and while I love the Texas landscapes, I still enjoy painting those scenes from my childhood in Michigan and later in southern Georgia. Although my primary medium is oils, I am venturing into acrylics and pastels as well. I am expanding my repertoire of subjects and at the same time, increasing my painting skills. I have done several commission paintings. If you are interested in a custom piece of art, please email me and let's talk. I am inspired by artists like John Pototschnik, Mark Carder, Kathleen Dunphy, Daniel James Keys among others. I will be adding several more works in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to view my works.
