Growing up in Southeastern Michigan I remember watching my grandfather paint watercolor landscapes. As a young child, it was a real treat to watch him make the paper come alive with the colors of the seasons. I also watched my father painting landscapes, and my aunt sketching animals and people. As a teen, I followed their lead, and drew a lot using colored pencils and markers. Later, as an adult, the responsibilities of parenthood and maintaining a household over the years took priority over my love of the arts.
